This Months Perkins Heroes

It was a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Perkins students were excited to get home and get outside to play.  The bell rings! Students make a mad dash for the buses. “Let’s go, I want to play catch with my dad,” said one child! Everyone scurries on the bus including one new kindergarten child. This was his first day at Perkins. It was like going to a carnival. He didn’t have a clue what he was doing or where he should go next. He’s checked off the list and escorted by the teachers. The yellow bus heads for home. “Oh boy, this is exciting,” he exclaims. The bus approaches his stop. He exits the bus to find out-oh no! No one is here to pick me up. The bus leaves. He immediately looks up and down the street. He recognizes no one. He looks around the neighborhood-no one. He becomes confused; then terrified. He cries. “What do I do,” he whispers? Suddenly, out of no where, two of our Perkins Super Heroes come to the rescue. Jalem and Teairra immediate assess the situation and realize that this young person needs help. “Here we are to save the day,” they excalim! Instead of going home, they stay with the little boy until mom arrives. BRAVO! Another fine job by our Perkins Heroes.
