Fifith Grade Dance

It was a marvelous time. The student Council did a first class job on preparing their fifth grade dance. The weather was befitting of a Hawaiian theme.  Our fifth grade student body rocked the house. Every year, Perkins parents sponsors a fifth grade dance. The purpose of the dance is to allow our children to express themselves through music. Our wonderful students are asked to work very hard in school. It is my opinion that there needs to be a balance of rigorous learning and fun learning. On this occasion it was fun learning. One student said, “Thank you for the 5th grade dance! It was soooo awesome & fun. All the kids had a great time. The decorations looked great, the food was amazing, the DJ was cool, and over all it was a ton of fun!” The fifth grade dance offers our students an hour and fifteen minutes to distress and have some fun learning. However, there are other very important reasons to consider when allowing students to chill. Dancing also improves the brain function on a variety of levels. Studies have shown that dancing allows students to achieve peak performance by blending cerebral and cognitive thought processes with muscle memory. Dancing, movement, or exercise can maximize a students brain function. I special thank you goes out to the parents for helping make all this happen. I am so happy that you had some well deserved fun.
