Shopping for the Holidays

Christmas came early for the students at Perkins Academy the Thursday and Friday before winter break.

The PTA’s annual Holiday Shop was open for business as parents poured in to help students pick out presents and wrap them up for Christmas day. This two-day event was a huge success. Each student could bring their own money from home, but nobody was left out, with the PTA giving each student a two-dollar voucher if they did not bring any money of their own.

Items ranged from small trinkets, ornaments and toys, to fleece blankets, coffee mugs and various ceramic and glass objects. Prices were very manageable, with bargains being found throughout the store. The most expensive item was $8, while the cheapest was only 20 cents.

The spirit of giving was in abundance with each student coming equipped with a list of future recipients for their gifts. Most of the students did not even buy something for themselves, which shows the great character that Perkins students practice each and every day. The Holiday Shop was a great way to send the students off for break on a happy and compassionate note.

Hopefully next year’s store will be even more fun for the parents and students alike!
