Beethoven vs. Bruno Mars

The Perkins fifth graders we treated a truly unique experience. They saw Black Violin (@blackviolin), a musical group consisting of two violinists. Each one has been playing since they were in fifth grade, and have been together as a group since high school. Their music is best described as indescribable. They blend a mixture of classical melodies with modern hip hop and techno beats. However, their infusion of dance and pop music must not be overlooked. The show was filled with dancing, lights, and more dancing. “This is a party, right” was a common utterance from the musicians. The fifth graders had a wonderful time, and could not stop talking about the field trip the rest of the day. Much gratitude goes to Gloria Faust for organizing this trip.
