Keepin’ it 100
Today marked the 100th day of school at Perkins Academy. All of the students were bustling around this morning anticipating the festivities planned for the day.
For the youngest students, it was a day to rejoice; a milestone that marked an achievement seemingly impossible to them 99 days ago. Yet, they persevered and overcame the first 100 grueling, testing first days of school.
For the older children, this Thursday was like any other. They had seen this all before one too many times. However, Perkins students find ways to contribute to their community and peers, so the fifth grade students came down to Mrs. Lundy’s classroom and helped their kindergarten friends complete their “100 charts” and other 100 themed activities. These 100 charts could be compared to winning eight gold medals for the United States and the Olympics, but even Michael Phelps had to marvel at the sheer quantity of 100 chart completions made by the younger students. It was nothing short of
spectacular.
This was a great day to sit back and complement one another on a good 100 days of school. Not only were students excited about the 100th day, they were even more excited to learn throughout the day! Now that is what we strive for at Perkins, and within our community. However, the kindergarten teachers suspiciously were all absent all day…
