Mr. Danny Koss has been an educator for the past 23 years for the Des Moines Public School District. Mr. Koss attended Upper Iowa University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He later attended Viterbo University, where he earned a Masters of Arts in Education and Administration and became deeply involved in research to help struggling learners develop their reading skills.
Mr. Koss has taught 2nd , 4th, 5th, grades at Willard Elementary, and 8th grade at Weeks Middle School. He was the Dean of Students at Willard Elementary and Morris Elementary Schools. His career continued as a School Improvement Leader at Weeks Middle School where he was in charge of the literacy program. Mr. Koss has also been affiliated with Upper Iowa University and Viterbo University as an Adjunct Professor teaching Reading Endorsement classes, and How the Brain Learns classes. For the past 6 years, Mr. Koss has been the principal at Perkins Elementary School where he has recently lead transformational change as a Demonstration School deeply involved with the implementation of the Marzano Instructional Framework.
