Hi, my name is Ellen Buhrow and I am a first grade teacher at Perkins Academy. I have taught for 17 years, three years as a title reading teacher and 14 years in first grade. I graduated from Grand View College here in Des Moines. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, and running.
My name is Janelle Conry and I have been teaching since 2000. I taught at Perkins Elementary for my first 13 years and then taught 4th grade in Earlham, Iowa and spent the last three years as the Instructional Coach in Earlham. I am back at Perkins and I am loving it! I attended Northwest Missouri State University and obtained my Masters in Education through Viterbo.
I live in Earlham with my husband Jeremy and our three children. During my free time I watch my children play sports. Between the three of them I watch softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, track, and football.
I obtained my Master’s in Education with reading, math, and social science endorsements from Drake University in May 2003. I was a substitute teacher with Des Moines Public Schools for one year following graduation. I have taught first grade ever since, first at Garton and then at Perkins.
I am married and have two daughters and four wonderful grandchildren. I’ve lived in Texas, Pennsylvania, Alabama, California, Georgia, South Carolina, and Indiana. I also lived in Germany for 5 ½ years. In my spare time I love to travel, take photographs, garden, and read.
