I am a University of Iowa graduate from a few years back 😉 and have taught in Texas, Mt. Pleasant, Johnston and Des Moines. When I’m not at school I enjoy the company of my three children, Kali (19), Ethan (17), and Emerson (7) and caring for my mother. We enjoy spending time swimming, biking, gardening and running. I instruct taekwondo classes one evening a week at Two Rivers Martial Arts and participate as a student as often as time allows! When we are not out and about we enjoy hanging out at home in the company of our four-legged family members; our loud and affectionate cat, Snack (aka Hawkeye) and two rescue pups, Jack and Frappe.
I can remember being in 8th grade and have such admiration for my teacher, Mrs. Thompson. I love how she was able to guide us through the challenging aspects of history. She introduced us to novels that pushed me to look differently at my place in the world. I decided that year I wanted to be a teacher. I have now been teaching for 18 years! It is my goal to guide my students to love learning as much as I do.
I am a 2013 graduate of Friends University, a college located in my hometown of Wichita, KS. I moved from Kansas City to Des Moines in May 2017 with my husband, Lewis. I enjoy training as an aerial gymnast and traveling to competitions in my free time.
