Welcome to Artsonia!
Artsonia is an online art gallery for students art work. Most of you have received emails and have already activated your accounts so you may know some of the really cool features this website can offer. Every time completed artwork from your child is photographed and uploaded, you will receive an email with the image of that work. You have the opportunity to be a fan club member and invite family and friends to also become fan club members as well. Fan club members can view and write comments about the art works. I will continue posting students art work on Artsonia through their time with us here at Perkins.
Artsonia also provides an opportunity to purchase products like postcards, t shirts, coffee mugs, quilt blocks and so many more items through the gift shop with your students art work printed on it. These would make great gifts! I am of course “plugging” the gift shop because a percentage of the proceeds comes back to Perkins in the way of consumable Art supplies.
Students grades K-4 who have a media release have had accounts created for them. Parents who have email addresses listed on Infinite Campus have been contacted through Artsonia. Images of the child will not appear on the website and neither will their last names. Only their art work with a screen name which is their first name and numbers will be all that appears. If you have not signed a media release for your child but would like them to have an Artsonia account please contact Ms. McCoy and I’ll get your permission to create an account for them.
At this time I have 80 student accounts set up without parent emails attached to them. If you have NOT given the office your email address but, WOULD like to receive notification of your students art work, please contact Ms. McCoy with and I will update your students account with your email address.
Schools are also ranked on Artsonia based on the number of artworks loaded, fan club members, comments about the art, and artist statements. Special recognition is extended to the top schools. I am not normally a competitive person but there is something about this website that is bringing it out of me. After 2 ½ weeks of first registering our school we are now ranked 59th in the state of Iowa and 1,683 in the nation. Our ranking improves each time I upload more completed artworks and statements from the student artists. Parents can help our rankings by inviting as many people as possible to become fan club members for their children and encourage people to make positive comments on the students art work.

If you weren’t sure what Artsonia was about when you received your first email, don’t worry. You will get another one when I post your child’s next project and will be able to activate the account then.
