I have been working for DMPS as a Bilingual Community Worker since 2007. I was born in Costa Rica and moved to Iowa in 1994 following my mom’s transfer to Pioneer Hi-Bred in Johnston Iowa. My primary language is Spanish but I am also fluent in English. I love to travel and learn as much as I can from all of the different countries our students are from. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, gardening and taking our dogs for walks.

Welcome to room 221!  My name is Courtney Brewer and I graduated from Iowa State in 2002 with a degree in Elementary Education and an Art Emphasis.  This is my sixteenth year teaching Kindergarten.  I live in Norwalk with my  two children, Carly who is a sixth grader and Luke who is a fourth-grader here at Perkins.  I have my own floral business and enjoy doing wedding flowers part-time.  I also enjoy running, biking with the family, traveling, reading, playing tennis, and walking our three dogs.  I love teaching kindergarten and try to make learning fun and memorable for the little ones!  I truly believe Perkins is the best place to learn!
